Gray 2012 Toyota Prius, 168k miles.
First, the bad news. There's a main control board that controls of much of the car's electronics,
like mileage, blue tooth, and more. It went bad and had to be replaced.
In order to do that, the dashboard has to be removed, and the card that contains the 'brains' (odometer, etc) has to be sent into Toyota.
(Toyota does that to make sure that the odometer is correct.) $1,000+ to do that.
While doing that, the passenger's heater vent stopped working. The phone blue tooth occasionally works,
but mostly not, and there are some cracks in the panel. The car is fine, but you can see the cracks.
When I got it, several years ago (I'm the 2nd owner) I was getting about 47-1/2 mpg. (I occasionally got 48.)
Now I get around 44-1/2 mpg. Not bad, I still pass lots of gas stations.
And the spare tire is missing. I've no idea when that happened. I don't know where the jack is, but didn't see it.
There is, however, good news. We got a new car, and, much as I like driving the Prius, (I really do) I don't need 4 cars.
This has to go. KBB values of cars like this range from $3k - $7k. My car has lived outside, so the clear coat is peeling.
It has a wide 5-panel rear-view mirror that lets you see everything behind and around you.
If you haven't used one, they are absolutely wonderful.
